Project Overview

Holidayz is envisioned as a multi-vertical online travel platform that brings flights, hotels and AI-powered trip planning into one ecosystem.

The goal was to move beyond a conventional travel-booking website and create an experience where users could discover, compare and book their trips with greater confidence and less friction.

Problem Statement

The main problem was unnecessary switching between platforms, inconsistent information and uncertainty around the actual price and booking conditions.

How might we create one cohesive travel experience that makes planning and booking feel simple, transparent and trustworthy?

Solution

I designed Holidayz as a trust-first, mobile-first travel platform that brings hotel and flight booking into one seamless experience.

My focus was to simplify the journey from discovery to confirmation by creating clear search and comparison experiences, transparent pricing, flexible travel options, and a frictionless booking flow.

I extended the experience beyond basic browsing to address the complete booking journey:

Search → Compare → Details → Selection → Add-ons → Checkout → Payment → Confirmation

The solution also introduces a scalable design system and reusable components to maintain consistency as Holidayz expands into additional travel services and experiences.

At the core of the experience is one principle:

Make travel complexity feel simple for the traveler.

Design Process

I followed a structured, user-centered process that moved from understanding the product to defining the experience and then refining the interface.

01 — Understand

I started by reviewing the product specification, existing designs, target users and overall business requirements to understand the scope and identify gaps in the current experience.

02 — Research

I explored the key user needs, booking behaviors and feasibility of major features across the hotel and flight experiences. Particular attention was given to pricing, availability, cancellation, add-ons and booking edge cases.

03 — Define

I mapped the information architecture and core user journeys, focusing on the most important path:

Search → Results → Details → Booking → Payment → Confirmation

This helped prioritize the experiences that directly impact the user's ability to complete a booking.

04 — Design

I developed the visual direction, responsive layouts, reusable components and high-fidelity screens for the hotel and flight journeys.

The design approach centered around clarity, transparency and ease of use.

05 — Validate & Refine

I reviewed the flows for usability, consistency and potential failure points, including price changes, booking failures, schedule changes and other edge cases.

The result was a more complete and scalable experience that could evolve beyond the initial hotel and flight journeys.

My Role

As the UI/UX Designer, I worked across the product experience from UX strategy to high-fidelity interface design.

My responsibilities included:

  • UX strategy & product thinking
  • Information architecture
  • User flows & booking journeys
  • Hotel & flight experiences
  • Search, filtering & comparison
  • Checkout & payment experience
  • Interaction & responsive design
  • Design system & reusable components
  • Edge cases and error states
  • High-fidelity UI design & prototyping

I focused on translating a complex travel product into a clear, intuitive and scalable experience while keeping user trust at the center of the design.
